The OV20i vision system software contains everything you need to view, create, and deploy inspection Recipes, and is accessible from the device via a web browser user interface (no software downloads required). New OV20i devices will start in “DHCP with Fallback” network mode. This means that if the device is connected to a network with a DHCP server, it will be assigned one at random—otherwise, it will revert to a default static IP address of 192.168.0.100. It is possible to change the network settings to Automatic (DHCP) or Static IP and alter the IP address after connecting to the OV20i. For most production uses, it is recommended to change the network settings of the OV20i to use a fixed static IP address, which may need to be assigned by the IT administrator at the site of installation.
The easiest way to connect to the OV20i software for the first time is through a direct ethernet cable connection to your computer:

Although the OV20i is fully self-contained an, it is often necessary to add an OV20i device to a network with other devices that may include user workstations, PLCs, other OV20i devices, and more. This allows users with a network connection to access the OV20i software, and enables the OV20i to communicate with other devices on the network. For example, many home routers act as DHCP servers, and will automatically assign IP addresses to any device that is connected to the router. Therefore, connecting the OV20i ethernet cable to a home router is typically enough to add the OV20i to your home network. You may then find the newly assigned IP address of the OV20i by looking at a list of DHCP clients or connected devices on your router configuration page. This IP address can be used to access the OV20i software from any computer on that network, including those using a wireless network connection.
In contrast to your average home router, most factory networks are very restrictive and secure. In most cases, it will be necessary to manually assign a static IP address to the OV20i to match the subnet of the target network. You may need to contact your IT administrator for guidance and approvals when adding the OV20i to a network at your office or factory.
To manually assign a static IP address to the OV20i device, follow these instructions:
